Hi there! My name is Sarah, I'm from the US, and I've been living in Saigon for about 4 years now. Though I first started practicing in 2006, It wasn't until later, when an illness left me so weak and exhausted that I could barely walk a half kilometer, that I really started progressing in my yoga practice. Daily yoga and focus on my diet allowed me to overcome what was diagnosed as a chronic illness, normally requiring multiple medications with many side effects, completely medication and side effect free. Understanding the healing power of yoga, I delved deeper into my self-practice and study, and fell in love with the philosophy that goes hand in hand with it. I evolved in such a way from this I realized that yoga was going to be a huge part of my life forever, and that I really wanted to help others discover how life-changing it can be. I completed my 200hr yoga teacher training and then my 500hr, and began formal in-depth study of Ayurveda, so that I can share these transformative practices with others, helping them help themselves in finding a new level of peace and balance in their lives. I'm definitely a forever-student and am currently working on my Ayurvedic Health Practitioner certification, as well as my Yoga Therapist certification. I teach Ayurveda-inspired Hatha yoga with Iyengar (alignment-centered yoga) influence. While strength and openness of the body are some of the many benefits of yoga, this will happen in time with any yoga practice. My first priority in my yoga classes is to facilitate an opportunity for my students to experience themselves as a whole being, body, mind, and soul, through the postures of yoga and the practice of mindfulness. Students will move through a mix of strengthening, stretching and balance-building poses in my classes, as well as work with the muscle of awareness, and a little self-exploration. Yoga is for everyone. I firmly believe this, and encourage and guide students in working at their level in each posture. If you don't think that you can "do yoga," come to my class and I promise I'll show you that you can!
